Cape Town braai specialists
Professional braai installation in Cape Town
A braai is more than a cooking spot — it is the heart of the outdoor entertainment area. Whether you want a built-in brick braai, a sleek gas unit or a compact freestanding model, Progress Installations fits it safely, cleanly and in line with Cape Town building and gas regulations.

Why use a professional braai installer?
A poorly installed braai can damage walls, create smoke problems and, with gas units, become a real safety risk. Using a professional installer means the unit is positioned correctly, the flue or extraction is sized for the space, and any gas work is covered by a certificate of conformity. You also protect your warranty and your home insurance.
- Correct clearances to walls, ceilings and combustible surfaces
- Flueing and extraction that keeps smoke out of the house
- Certified LP gas connections and compliance paperwork
- Neat brickwork, cladding and finishing that matches your home
Types of braais we install
Built-in masonry braais
The classic South African choice. A permanent structure in brick, stone or plaster that becomes part of your patio or entertainment area. We build them to the right height, depth and flue specification so smoke clears cleanly and the structure lasts.
Freestanding braais
A flexible option for renters, smaller courtyards or homeowners who may want to move the unit later. We prepare a safe, level base, connect any gas lines if needed, and make sure clearances to walls and ceilings are correct.
Gas braais
Instant heat and no coal or wood storage. We run the gas line from your existing supply or cylinder, install a regulator and shut-off valve, and pressure-test the system before signing it off.
Wood and charcoal braais
For the traditional braai taste. We focus on safe flueing, heat-resistant surrounds and airflow so the fire draws properly and your walls and ceiling stay protected.
How the installation works
- 1
Free site visit to look at the space, discuss fuel choice and check gas or electrical access.
- 2
Written quote covering the braai, base, flue or extraction, gas line if required, and finishing.
- 3
Installation by our qualified team, including any core drilling, brickwork or gas connections.
- 4
Final check, clean-up and walkthrough so you know how to use and maintain your new braai safely.
Because we also do our own core drilling, gas and fireplace work, we rarely need to bring in a second contractor. That keeps your project on schedule and your patio tidy.
What affects the cost of a braai installation?
Every installation is different, but these four factors have the biggest impact on pricing:
- Fuel type
- Gas braais need a certified gas line and compliance certificate; wood braais need a proper flue and heat shielding.
- Size and finish
- Larger built-in units with stone cladding or custom countertops cost more than compact freestanding models.
- Extraction
- Covered patios and enclosed outdoor rooms often need a flue or extractor fan to keep smoke out of the house.
- Site access
- Tight courtyards, upper-storey patios or homes on difficult terrain add time and labour.
